Food close-up in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

I would like to thank the staff for the great care they took with my dietary requirements (coeliac). The executive chef and the staff who spoke to me at dinner and especially breakfast went above and beyond my expectations. I am so grateful to the executive chef who created a specific breakfast menu for me. I greatly appreciated this and was in awe of the overall attention to detail. And the food was delicious and healthy. The outlook from my breakfast table was gorgeous with a beautiful view of the mountains and trees, very peaceful and calming. I also found the rooms to be very clean, spacious and fascinating with tatami on the floor and ceiling. There was so much thought and attention to detail to the decor which I admired. I also slept very well after using the hot springs private bath. Overall an excellent, relaxing stay.

Property building in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

The room was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The staff were friendly, helpful, and could communicate in basic English. There were accessible and detailed instructions for the public, private, and in-room Onsen. The 4 private outdoor Onsen (first come first serve) were lovely and peaceful. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious and filling. There are complimentary frozen snacks in the lounge area. Free shuttle bus service available upon request with the ryokan. We were fortunate to be added to the list last minute (the day before departure) from Jozankei to Sapporo, but would recommend contacting the Ryokan in advance to reserve. The public buses between Sapporo and Jozankei (e.g. 8J and 7J) can get quite crowded, which can make traveling with luggage challenging.

Set dinner and breakfast were fantastic experiences! We had originally requested for a later breakfast time, then realized we needed to check out earlier than expected. We’re grateful the staff accommodated our request for earlier seating that morning with no problem. The twin room was beautiful! We really liked the yukatas and tabi provided. My husband has chronic neck and hip pain and was able to take advantage of the pillow selection area by the guest room elevator. We enjoyed using the onsen in the room and used the Hiba and rock private onsen twice during our stay. The free ice pops in the lounge were a really nice treat after the bath.

Lounge or bar in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

Amazing place to stay. Very authentic hotel for a real Japanese experience. We all loved it (2adults, 2 teens) and could have stayed for much longer. Funny local town with a great ramen bar run by an elderly couple and their daughter and not much else but hiking trails (mind the bears!). Amazing location and well worth visiting, this hotel stay loved up to all our expectations.

Lobby or reception in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

This was an unforgettable experience! A truly lovely Onsen hotel where the staff were fantastic and very accomodating. Free ramen noodles at 10pm was a lovely surprise! The room was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. It was fab to have our own bath in our room as the public Onsen is not tattoo friendly

Restaurant/places to eat in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They make you feel super welcome. Facility is very clean and beautiful. DO NOT miss the breakfast or dinners they are amazing. The surrounding area is fun to walk around but might have more to offer when not in winter. Although I would still recommend winter, especially if you're a skier. If you want a quiet mountain break, this is the spot.

Breakfast in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

What a wonderful experience staying at JOZANKEI Onsen Yurakusoan. The Onsen in the room was great! The public Onsen was great and the private Onsen were great!! The food served at breakfast and dinner was bountiful and there were extra snacks and late night free ramen supper around the hotel. It was relaxing and tranquil. The surrounding town is nice and small, a few convenience stores and food stalls, a small waterfall and just beautiful scenery. We went during winter and was able to take in the beautiful snowy landscape. It was surprisingly easy to get to via the public bus from Sapporo station

View (from property/room) in Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan

It was an amazing facility. The staff were clear when saying when things were open as well as where people are allowed to go. The onsen in the room was lovely as were the private ones. I liked that you didn't have to book them you could just show up and if they were available you could use them. The night time ramen was a lovely surprise as well.
